He graciously complied and took another flight on another airline because the airline wouldn't allow him to fly until they had completed an investigation of the situation. And because he took that second flight, he was in the right place at the right time to help save a man's life. This is such an amazing example of how God redeemed a seemingly bad situation. The ending is an encouraging reminder that God is sovereign and when we walk in faith, we get to be part of His plan by being his eyes and ears and hands and feet and voice.
